Courtney became a close friend during our high school youth group years (#Scrippies) and has remained one ever since. Whether we were wreaking havoc at camp, spending all our time at whatever house she lived in at the time (and still do to this day - the Barkers hospitality is unmatched), or planning our next trip (sadly, Vargo in Nashville cannot ever be beat), time spent with Courtney is always so easy, so fun, and so authentic (she tells it how it is while somehow making motherhood and marriage and life seem like a piece of cake).
I think one of the most impressive traits a person can have is when she matures and grows into an admirable adult (Court is a boss babe and wife with two little babes of her own) and not lose her youthful spark and energy, a trait which makes Courtney in high demand in every friendship and social gathering and event that takes place. Everything is better when she's around and she works hard to make everyone feel included and energized. Even better, she seems to only live in amazing cities (San Diego to Chicago to Seattle) I get to visit and we seem to make even more amazing memories across every chapter of our lives. The strong friendship we solidified when we were younger, the 20s antics I wouldn't have wanted to spend with anyone else (from boat parties to spin class torture to her PadSquad hookups) and the 30s memories I cherish (from bar crawl bike rides to real life chats), only make me even more hopeful for what lays in store for our friendship for the future (Bali, hopefully, and a permanent move back to San Diego).
