Updated Plans
It has been a crazy year to say the least and in August we decided that our originally scheduled wedding for New Years Eve 2020 was not going to happen the way we'd like. What kind of wedding would it be without all of the folks who wouldn't be able to make it, with no dancing and with limited interactions? Therefore, we have decided to postpone that celebration one year and we hope you all will be able to use this advance notice to plan an even bigger and better trip to San Diego to ring in 2022.
However, we decided that we didn't want to wait any longer to officially tie the knot, so we have planned a small celebration in its place. On December 31, 2020 in front of a small group of immediate family, we will have a short ceremony at the Port San Luis Lighthouse located in Avila Beach, California, with the fresh salt air (and we're sure torrential rain, #2020) at our backs.
But that didn't quite seem like enough and we still wanted the opportunity to see our closest friends, celebrate the end of a truly bizarre year and start a truly effervescent marriage. Therefore, we would love for you all to join us in the Paso Robles area for a Covid-conscious party to celebrate not only our new marital status but also the start of a brand new year (and everyone making it through this last one)!
Realizing that the pandemic is still a factor, we have no expectations for anyone to attend and completely understand if you are unable to join us. Anyone we get to see this year is just a bonus and we fully expect that things will be much more normal next year. Thanks for bearing with us and celebrating however you can!

How Will We Stay Safe?
We plan on taking every possible safety precaution in order to make sure everyone who wants to join us this year is able to. The Grace Maralyn Estate is a private residence and we will come into contact with very few people outside of our group. We are limiting invites in order to keep the group as small as possible and masks and sanitizing stations will be readily available. All of the events taking place throughout the weekend will be held outdoors, ensuring distance can be maintained at all times. And finally, all of our vendors are taking their own precautions as well so we can celebrate and have a good time safely!
If you are uncomfortable about traveling or seeing other people, please do not feel obligated in any way to come. We will celebrate with you all again next year in a more proper and official ceremony and reception as originally planned.

Travel Info
The Grace Maralyn Estate is located in Astascadero, California, halfway between Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. The nearest airport is the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport, about a 20 minute drive from the venue. Other options for out of town guests include flying into Los Angeles, San Jose or San Francisco and either taking a train or renting a car. For anyone who lives close enough to drive, there is plenty of parking available.
We are planning on having family stay with us at the Grace Maralyn Estate itself and have reserved some nearby houses for friends to use for the weekend. Please be on the lookout for additional communications from us about lodging soon.
If you have questions or need help finding the best way to get there, please reach out as Jamie is a wizard at finding the best possible travel options and is feeling deprived this year from a lack of travel planning.

The Weather
While Atascadero is located in sunny California, it experiences large temperature swings, especially in the winter. We will have heaters and some indoor shelter available throughout the evening but as the reception will be taking place mostly outside, we ask you to dress comfortably and to bring warm clothes.
The average low is 35 degrees and the average high is 63 during winter. We expect the temperature to be in the low to mid 50s for most of the evening. While January is not the rainy season on the Central Coast, it does rain occasionally, though usually only lightly. Check your weather app accordingly!

Local Recommendations
While you might not have much free time during the weekend, we highly recommend coming in early or extending your stay, if possible. Even in winter, the California Central Coast is a beautiful place full of great things to do, see and eat - with plenty of outdoor dining options too!
